Notice: 2024 Fire Dues

The Eudora Volunteer Fire Department (EVFD) appreciates and is honored by the continued support our fire dues paying members have always shown us. Every year, we send out letters asking for fire dues donations to continue to fund tools, equipment, and facilities able to aid us in the extinguishment of fires, auto extrication, rescue operations, fire prevention/community events, and supporting our county ambulance services with first responders. We mailed this letter out on March 25, 2024. Thank you for your support!

We need your help! Your voice is what will make this possible!

We are working with the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors to come up with a Long-Term Capital Improvements Plan to provide adequate emergency fire response and to maintain/lower fire insurance rates. In order for us to create or increase our current fire districts, which effects fire insurance rates, we are required to have volunteer trained firefighters, a water supply that supplies the required fire flow for fire protection, a fire substation (est. $600,000), a Class "A" Pumper/Fire Truck (est. $450,000), and Equipment (est. $160,000) within 5 road miles of houses/buildings. If you support the funding of these improvements with the intent of maintaining/lowering fire insurance ratings in areas like Koko Reef and Rising Sun/Oak Grove, please email Madam Supervisor Lee Caldwell of the DeSoto County Emergency Services Steering Committee at lcaldwell@desotocountyms.gov

Fire Insurance Rating Questions

We often receive requests for information on fire ratings, how far a house or building is from a fire hydrant, and what other departments respond with us to a structure fire. Thankfully we have the DeSoto County Fire Marshal's Office, who has the resources and personnel to answer any and all of your questions. Please feel free to email

Fire Marshal Chris Olson at colson@desotocountyms.gov or call 662-469-8017.
